Puppies are the joy of every family and as good dog owners, puppies need to be trained to participate as good family members. At CABTC, we strive to give your puppy the best foundation possible. We offer three tracks of foundation classes for you and your pup: obedience/household manners, performance (agility), and scent work. All tracks serve as an exceptional foundation for new puppies and trainers alike.
The Obedience Track focuses on basic commands (sit, stay, down, come) and prepares students for future classes in advanced obedience, rally, fit dog, and tricks/patterns. You will start in Puppy I if your dog is between 8 to 17 weeks old, or you will start in Foundation Skills I if your dog is 5 months or older. See the descriptions below to learn more about these classes.
The Performance Track will cover relationship building with your puppy including recalls of all sorts, crate games and self-control along with body awareness, and all aspects of agility from the ground up. Dogs must be under 7 months old and complete a wait list application. Currently, this class is only offered as needed throughout the year and during the daytime. See the descriptions below to learn more about this class.
The Scent Work Track will build on the dog’s natural ability to hunt. These classes will develop foundation skills for Scent Work and increase the dog’s motivation, drive, confidence and problem-solving skills as well as developing a tolerance to frustration. Dogs must be 1 year old or older and have basic obedience skills including the ability to work on/off a leash, be comfortable around other dogs, and have crate manners.
