Skills Classes
Skills Classes focus on individual components of Agility, such as weaves, obstacle/handler focus, jumping proficiency, etc. These classes are for dogs at the beginners level or better.
2x2 Weaves
This class will focus on teaching the beginner dog independent entries and weave pole performance using the highly effective 2x2 training method. Because students will be expected to practice at home between classes, they must have access to 2x2 weaves (only a limited number of sets are available for borrowing).

Beginning Obstacle/Handler Focus
Class was given earlier in Fall. It is currently not scheduled.
Using jumps and tunnels, this class will focus on teaching the dog obstacle/handler focus skills, introduce common jump configurations and increase the ability to work at a distance. Beginning with basic handler/obstacle focus exercises and working toward more complex combinations, exercises will include a combination of advanced flat work, jumping exercises and speed circles. Each week’s exercise will build on the previous week so attendance at each class is important.
Advanced Weaves
Check back for future dates:
This class will focus on proofing weave entries and performing 12 poles with speed in a distracting environment. It will begin with some exercises to increase speed and rhythm and then concentrate on the skills necessary for more accurate independent weaves. The class exercises will come primarily from Susan Garrett's ‘2x2’ DVD where, after learning to weave, the dogs are proofed through various challenging obstacle (primarily jumps and/or tunnels) and weave combinations. In addition, we will do some of the advanced exercises from the ‘World Class Weaves’ DVD. The level of difficulty and challenges will change each week so attendance to every class will be important.
Will They Stay or Will They Go
This class will work on stays with agility in mind.
We will be working on: Improving your lead out; 2 on 2 off contact performance and proofing with "lots of distractions"!
We will evaluate the class the first night and tailor this class to the dogs participating.
Contacts from the Ground Up
Check with CABTC Office or watch the web site for next scheduled class.
This class focuses on fast and confident contact obstacle performance. It is an excellent introduction for initial training or also useful for retraining slow or cautious contact performance. Many times trainers have progressed through the training steps too quickly, and have some holes in their foundation work. So the best thing to do is go back and fill in the blanks.
See attached flyer for more details!
