Deb Jones

Deborah Jones, Ph.D. is a psychologist who specializes in studying learning and behavior.  For more than 20 years she has combined her academic background and her favorite activity, dog training.  Deb has trained and shown dogs in obedience, rally, and agility competitions.  She has also successfully worked with dogs with a variety of behavioral issues.  Deb has long been an advocate of gentle and positive training methods, especially clicker training.   She has written a number of books and helped produce a video series (Clicker Fun) on that topic.  Along with Judy Keller, she has developed the FOCUS training system.  They have written one book and helped to produce 4 DVDs based on this system.

Judy Keller

Judy Keller has owned and trained Shelties for more than 20 years.  She has been most successful with Morgan, her once-in-a-lifetime dog.  Judy & Morgan represented the United States three times in world agility competition and were on the Gold medal winning mini dog team in 1998.  Judy continues to enjoy training and showing in agility, even though multiple sclerosis has added significant challenges to pursuing her favorite activity.  She has also dabbled in obedience and rally competition with several of her Shelties.  Along with Deb Jones, she developed the FOCUS training system.  This system provides a gentle and effective program for raising dogs to have both motivation and control.

Judy Askew

During the 30 years that Judy has been a CABTC member, she has instructed at all levels of obedience and worked about every job there is at one time or another.

Judy began her love affair with God’s greatest creatures when she was nine; she participated in 4-H with her Toy Manchester Terrier.  Then came a Basenji whom she trained through Open obedience.  Next was Darby, a Pembroke Welsh Corgi – Judy’s her first Utility dog.  After that, Trapper, a Golden Retriever, went home with her for a two-week visit; he stayed 13 years.  During that time, he became affectionately known as ‘Mr. Utility’.  His list of accomplishments include an AKC and CKC UD, the first UKC UD in the country, and going to Bermuda three years in a row where he obtained a BKC UD.

And it’s be Goldens ever since.  AKC, CKC OTCH Colabaugh’s Reebok Runner, UKC UD, JH, TD, MX, MXJ, CGC (aka Reebok) loved and worked with Judy for almost 16 years.  Currently Judy shares her home with AKC CKC OTCH Suds on Tap, UKC, UD, JH, OA and OAJ (aka Suds) and youngster ‘Buzz’.  We can’t wait to see what the future holds for him.

Debbie Peck

I am currently an instructor in beginning agility, conformation and summer puppy class.  Dogs have been a part of my life for forever, but as a young adult I acquired my first pure-bred dogs and started competing in obedience competitions.  Shortly after being introduced to the dog show world through obedience trials, I started breeding my English Springer Spaniels under the Sademont kennel name, trying very hard to keep the trainability and intelligence in the breed while maintaining the health and genetic integrity.  Most of my spare time has been spent competing and promoting the sport of dog training.  I have titled dogs in obedience, tracking, conformation and agility.   I have maintained a multi-dog household for more than 30 years so I usually have one senior dog, one mid-life dog and one youngster in my house at all times.  It’s fun to see the cycles of life and be reminded that the youngsters become the seniors way too fast.

I love teaching at CABTC.  There is nothing more rewarding than seeing someone progress with their dog, and if the students choose to compete, then I get to celebrate their successes with them!

Lisa Trombo

At the age of 10 Lisa started showing dogs in 4-H, training the neighbor’s dog since her family didn’t have a dog at the time.  When she was 13, she bought her first “show dog”, a Yorkshire Terrier that she handled to a breed championship.  She showed at Westminster and won many Best Junior Handler awards, first with her Yorkies and later with her Boxers.

Since about 1992, Lisa has been a member of CABTC and has served as President, Vice-President, Treasurer and as a board member.  She teaches/has taught both obedience and agility classes.

Lisa has owned Yorkies, Boxers, Giant Schnauzers, Golden Retrievers, Whippets, a Collie, mixed breeds and Cocker Spaniels.  She and her husband also do fostering for various shelters.  Lisa's versatility in dog activities is evidenced by her many successes in conformation, obedience, rally, agility and tracking, including breed championships, obedience High in Trials, tracking TDX, and agility MACHs.

In addition to her current K9 companions, Golden Retriever Orion (MACH One AshTouch the Stars, VCD2, CDX, TD, NAP, NJP, NFP, WC), Giant Schnauzer Gabriel (Jobon's I'm No Angel, RN), and Cocker Spaniels Villain (MACH 3 Fasttracks Grand Theft Auto VCD1, CD, TDX, RE, XF) and Rifle AX, AXJ (Double Oh Loaded for Bear), her menageri includes a rabbit, birds and hamsters!
